The 'old' Eifelsteig

The old Eifelsteig is an oval course Blankenheim - Hellenthal - Einruhr - Gemünd - Blankenheim. We did this route in 2007.

The 'new' Eifelsteig

Until the end of 2007 there will be a new Eifelsteig, leading from Aachen to Trier. Our project for 2008!

Terms of participation

Every participant is responsible for themselves. The organizer assumes no liability for accidents, theft or other damage. We don't have a car with or behind us, no catering along the way.
That is the reason why we:

• run together,
• take care for each other,
• do not overburden ourselfs and the other runners,
• take drinks and some food with us

If necessity we will buy something on the road or ask people, if we can have some water to refill our supplies.

Limit of participants

The run is restricted on 20 runners.

Run in groups

If the speed of the runners is too varied, we can divide up into separate groups. But only on the condition that every group has a leaderwho knows the route and makes sure, that nobody from the group falls behind.
If a group member meets with another group then runners are allowed to switch groups. Therefore they must inform their leader that they are switching and inform the other that they will be joining.

Stage runners

Stage runners (or hiker for individual stages) are welcome! They don't need to pay anything, but they get no support. On the first day we start at 10 am (at Im Grüntal 18a, 52066 Aachen), every other day we will start at 9 am in front of our accomodation. Short-term changes can be arranged by phone.

Accommodation

>To keep the cost down, we will stay and eat mainly at youth hostels.

If you want to stay overnight before the run, we can organize something for you - or you can contact Youth Hostel Aachen.

The last evening we will be celebrating.
In Trier we will visit a public bath, were we can wash up, swim a little and get something to eat. Maybe we will order a bus to take us back to Aachen.
If you want you can stay in Trier for the weekend – a good idea, I think.

Costs

The costs for accomodation and food will be allocated equally for all participants. There are no other fees for participation.

Registration

Please register at Helmut.Hardy@web.de. Next you will receive a bank account, where you can pay in advance the amount of 250 €. Afterwards your registration is final and you will be put onto the List of participants. Additionally we will have a waiting list of standby-runners, so that we can get replacements on short notice.

Cell phones

In case of emergency it would be good, if as many runners as possible could have a cell phone. Please send your phone number with the registration and take your cell phone along with you during the run.

Transport of luggage

A car will transport our luggage, will support us if needed and will take a runner to the end of a stage if required.
